X-Men: Apocalypse Review

As a huge X-Men fan I had high hopes for this movie and I have to say, it did not disappoint. Bryan Singer has once again nailed it!

This time around our heroes go up against a God (Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac). He is the first and the most powerful mutant. On his quest for world domination he recruits four mutants to join him. Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is one of Apocalypse's four horsemen's and I have to say, I felt for his character more than anybody else in this film. It feels like his lost the most out of everybody else. Apart from him we got to see Psylocke (Olivia Munn) in action along side her team kicking all kinds of butt. Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel (Ben Hardy) held there own as well, I look forward to seeing more of these new actors in more upcoming Marvel films. Too bad we won't get to see them team up with the Avengers...

It's up to Professor X (James McAvoy) and Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) to get a team of X-Men to protect their world. Throughout this film there's a lot of funny moments, Quicksilver (Evan Peters) being the funniest. He had another slow mo scene in this film that was just as awesome as X-Men Days of Future Past (if not better). Jean (Sophie Turner) and Scott/Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) had great chemistry together, the film did a phenomenal job at showing that. Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) did a great job at capturing the essence of the character, he really reminded me of Nightcrawler from X-Men Evolution. He was funny, agile and kind.

Now, let's talk about the action... It had some of the best action sequences that I've ever seen in an X-Men film. Every character held their own during every single fight scene. Beast (Nicholas Hoult) went all out, which made me truly happy because I felt like they should of had him do a lot more in X-Men Days of Future Past. No one was holding back, if you're not able to control your powers it's seen as a good thing, it's war, go all out! Oscar Isaac is in my opinion one of the greatest actors right now in Hollywood, this guy just nails every single role that he does. I found myself saying a bunch of lines that he said as Apocalypse while walking out of the movie theater.

This is by no means a perfect movie, it's also not my favorite X-Men film but it's definitely one of my favorites now. Some of the things that were wrong in the film was the pacing, I wish they had given us more character development on some of the new comers. This would of really helped out those audiences who are new to the X-Men Universe. The cgi was a little off sometimes, but not to the point where it looked horrible, I'm just saying that it was noticeable at times.

Apart from that I really enjoyed this film, lots of action, humor, amazing cinematography and it was just so much fun, even a bit more fun than Captain America: Civil War to be honest. I give X-Men Apocalypse a 9 out of 10.

Vikings season 2 was epic!

Just finished season 2 of Vikings that ending caught me off guard! Can't believe Floki and Siggy we're playing the king this whole time! Not only that but Ragnar's entire crew was end on it. If you're not watching Vikings, you should consider giving it a shot.

Captain America: Civil War Review

I'll start off by saying that this movie was amazing! This has got to be the best Marvel film so far. Captain America is the only one in the MCU to have his films get better with every sequel.

I was team Captain America before going to see this film and during my viewing I became neither team cap nor team Iron Man. Both sides made sense to me and the way it was presented was phenomenal. Should Superheroes be held accountable when their actions lead to collateral damage? Or should they remain free to defend us without government interference? This issue divided The Avengers and everyone had to pick a side.

The fight scenes in this film blew my mind. Although there was some shaky cam here and there, it wasn't too bad. If you're a fan of action films there's no reason why you shouldn't enjoy Civil War. Not only did it have great action sequences, it also had heart and humor. I like the fact that Marvel doesn't take itself too seriously, something I wish DC would do a little more often. But it's looking like DC might be taking notes from Marvel based on what I've seen from their upcoming Suicide Squad film.

We got some new members this time around. Both Spider-man and Black Panther stole each seen they we're in. Tom Holland played the perfect Spider-Man! My friend said it best "his performance as Spidey felt natural, not at all forced." Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther was spot on as well. Both him and Spidey stole the film, I wish they had gotten more screen time but at least we'll get to see more of them in their own solo films.

The rest of the cast did great as well, showing us sides of them that we've never seen before. The villain isn't worth mentioning to be honest, Marvel gives us another bland villain. They at least make up for it by getting everything else just right.

Civil War is a must watch film, enjoyable for both the casual movie audiences and comic book fans.
I give Captain America: Civil War a 9.5/10

I was asked yesterday "which film is better, Batman V Superman or Civil War?" To be honest, Civil War is a better movie but I enjoyed Batman V Superman a bit more.

Have you seen Captain America: Civil War? If so what did you think of it?
